    MANUAL on installing, programming and using Aquarius irrigation controller.

    The controller manages the irrigation system on household plots, vegetable gardens and greenhouses supplying water through solenoid valves which run with 24V AC (product of Hunter and Rain Bird).
    Controller operation and programming is carried out via BLUETOOTH network from any ANDROID device (smartphone or tablet) version 4 and higher after Aquarius installation.
    The interaction between the mobile device and the Aquarius controller is as follows: initially, channels programming is carried out in the application. After the mobile device and the controller are connected via BLUETOOTH, the data is transferred to the controller memory. When making changes in the irrigation programs in the application you must also connect to the controller to transfer updated information there.
    The controller memory is nonvolatile, therefore all the downloaded programs are saved in case of power outage.
    Power supply for the device is 24V AC. The number of channels (irrigation zones) is 10.

    The controller can be installed both inside and outside the room.
    IP54 degree of protection against moisture (this does not apply to the power unit).
    The controller is equipped with a temperature sensor and is able, if programmed, to change automatically the time of irrigation depending on the air temperature changes. Also, it is possible to connect a weather sensor (rain sensor) made by different manufacturers which interrupts the irrigation process during precipitation on the zones where it is needed. The rain sensor is not included.


    1. Remove the four screws and the cover.
    2. Secure the case with two or four screws in the corners.





    The installation of the AQUARIUS controller must be done by the well-trained personnel!

    At the location of the valves:

    1. Lay the wires between the valves and the controller.

    2. If the valves are grouped into one valve box in the number more than two, connect the common wire to one of the wires on all the valves.

    3. Connect a separate test wire to the remaining wire of each valve. All wired connections must be made using waterproof connectors or insulated.

    On the controller (after unscrewing the cover):

    1. Lay the wires from the valves through the bottom of the controller, previously cutting out the hole of an appropriate diameter in the rubber seal.Try to make a hole not larger than the size necessary for the wires. This affects the moisture resistance of the device.

    2. Connect the common valve wire to any of the four terminals of the COMMON group of the terminal strip. Connect each separate test wire from solenoid valves to the terminals of the appropriate channels.



    Place the power unit inside the room. Provide 220V AC for the power unit.
    Lay the 24v AC cable to the controller.
    Run the 24V AC cable from the power unit through the seal at the bottom of the controller and connect the wires to the two contacts of the 24v AC group of the terminal strip (polarity is not important).
    Do not connect the power unit to the power-supply source until all the wiring to the valves is connected.



    The purpose of the weather sensor is to interrupt irrigation during or immediately after precipitation.
    The AQUARIUS controller can be connected to any market weather sensor (rain sensor) of the microswitch type (when it is dry the contact is closed, when it rains the contact is open). Features of operation and setting of a specific weather sensor can be found in the manual supplied.
    Connect the two wires of the weather sensor to the contacts of the WEATHER SENSOR group after removing the jumper. Polarity is not important. The controller senses the absence of the weather sensor and jumper as rain.




    An important feature of the AQUARIUS controller is the ability to connect up to two ambient temperature sensors. This can be useful to manage irrigation process both in the open air and in a greenhouse. The device has a function of changing the time of irrigation depending on the air temperature, as well as completely turning off the irrigation if the temperature falls below the minimum set. Connect the three wires of the temperature sensor to the contacts of the TEMPERATURE SENSOR group of the terminal strip in accordance with polarity as shown in the figure. If there are two sensors, connect the second one in parallel to the same contacts.


    If the temperature sensors are missing, connected incorrectly or defective, the air temperature is sensed as 20 degrees above zero. In this case the temperature display will be black.

    The controller can function normally without connection of temperature sensors and the weather sensor. But in this case, the possibility of automatic change of the time of irrigation depending on the ambient temperature and automatic interruption of irrigation during precipitation will not be available. The package includes one temperature sensor. The second sensor can be purchased separately.

    The controller is supplied with nonvolatile memory, so the program is saved in the case of a power outage. Irrigation will resume as soon as the electrical connection is restored.


    The procedure of connection of the controller and the Android device via Bluetooth is standard. Go into Settings on your phone or tablet, follow the Wireless Networks section, select Bluetooth and activate the search for a new device.

    Select the connection to the available Aquarius device and enter pin 1234.
    After the new device appears in the list of connected devices start installing the application and programming the controller.


    It is important to remember that the controller and the Android device are connected via Bluetooth and during data transfer they should be in close proximity to each other. Generally, this is a few meters, but the distance can be more. It depends on the features of the Bluetooth module of the device, or on the obstacles that restrict the line of sight.

    Launch the Aquarius application.
    The Bluetooth module on the phone or tablet must be turned on.


    After the launch, the device on which the application will be running must be specified.
    In the drop-down menu select Connect and then the desired Aquarius controller. The program will start the connection.

    If there is one controller and no need to manage several similar devices, there is no need to repeat the procedure also. The next time the application is launched, the connection to the last connected controller will take place. If there is a need to switch control to another Aquarius controller, select Disconnect in the drop-down menu and then similarly select another device.
    Indication of the current time, temperature and green color of the button Connect on the main page are signs of successful connection of the device to the controller.


    (the first synchronization after installation of the application may take a longer time and this is normal. Further synchronization will occur more quickly)

    If you have a long or bad connection Bluetooth, use the app "Bluetooth Auto Connect" from Google Play.



    Select the Channels button on the main page. Here you can rename or number the channels according to your taste. The icons opposite to each channel indicate whether the weather sensor is active or passive. By default, the weather sensor is active on all the channels.

    Click the button on the main page which corresponds, for example, to the first channel "Lawn".
    Select the days of the week, set the start time, minimum and maximum temperature, and the time of irrigation for the maximum and minimum temperature (up to 99 minutes). Select the desired temperature sensor (if there are two). The weather sensor can also be activated (if it is connected). The weather sensor activation button is located at the bottom. When the button is active, the channel does not turn on at the scheduled time during precipitation. With the button is passive, the controller ignores precipitation which, for example, may be necessary for a greenhouse or winter garden irrigation.

    This means that on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12.35 p.m. the irrigation on the Lawn channel will start. The time of irrigation will automatically vary from 30 to 90 minutes depending on the temperature on sensor 1 (for example at the temperature of +19°С the time of irrigation is 60 minutes). If the temperature is warmer than +26°C, the time of irrigation will be 90 minutes. If it is lower than +12°C, irrigation will not occur.
    The active status of the weather sensor button means that irrigation will also not occur during and after precipitation.
    Similarly, up to eight irrigation programs can be set up in this irrigation zone.
    Please make sure you click on the SAVE button, return to the main page and proceed to programming the remaining channels.

    The maximum time of irrigation for one program is 99 minutes. If longer irrigation in this zone is needed, divide it into several programs and set up the start time for the next program to water immediately after the end of the previous one, taking into account the duration at the maximum temperature.

    The set temperature range is for °С min and °С max from +5° to +50°С. If you do not want the time of irrigation to vary depending on the temperature, enter °C min equal to 5°C and °C max equal to 20°C, set the same time of irrigation for °C min and °C max or simply disconnect the temperature sensor from the controller. Please note that °C min should not be higher than °C max.

    When programming the irrigation parameters for the controller there is no need to establish a connection to the device. You can enter all the necessary data into the program on your phone or tablet and do not forget to save the entered parameters. If the data has not yet been transferred to the controller memory, the color of the channel buttons on the main application page will change to dark green.


    When everything is ready, establish a connection to the controller and all the changes will be transferred to its memory. During the transfer, the buttons of the channels in which the changes were made will obtain a normal color. The nearest time of turning on will be displayed on the main page.
    Notice! When the phone or tablet enters sleep mode, the download of programs to the controller is suspended. Increase the operation time before entering the sleep mode. Make sure to load all programs.


    To turn on irrigation forcibly click the MANUAL button.
    The Android device and controller must be connected. Select the desired channel (for example, №1 Lawn),

    select the required number of minutes, or click the Turn On button and enter a different duration in minutes, and then click OK.

    To interrupt the irrigation (both manual and programmed), click the MANUAL button. The Android device and controller must be connected. Select the desired channel, click the Turn Off button. At most, disconnect the power from the electrical network.

    SCHEME of connection



    In the controller, the short-circuit protection of the connected valves is provided with a safety fuse 2A, size 5x20. If the red diode does not light up when the controller's power supply is connected, check the integrity of the fuse which is located on the panel. To check and replace unscrew the cover of the device, having previously disconnected it from the the electrical network.


    A burnt out fuse is a sign of a short circuit on one of the connected valves. To identify the channel with a shorting it is necessary to install a new fuse and in the manual control mode, turn on and turn off all channels one by one until the fuse burns out again. The channel on which this happens will have a short circuit. Check the wiring on the connected valve. If the wiring is efficient, the valve solenoid may be damaged. Replace the valve or its solenoid. Then install a new fuse and repeat the short circuit test. For such cases it is recommended to stock up with at least a couple of new fuses.
    Do not use a home-made electrical fuse instead of a safety fuse!
    Do not use fuses of a different rating!
    This may provoke the failure of the controller.


    The AQUARIUS controller is a sophisticated electronic device. It is placed into a case that has a degree of protection against dust and moisture according to the IP54 standard. This standard provides protection against water and other liquids only in the form of drops and does not protect from water jets. Thus, the device can be used in wet rooms and on the street, where it can be exposed to rain, but it can not be watered, for example from a hose.
    This does not apply to the 220v power unit! It must be placed indoors!
    Avoid direct sunlight on the plastic case. It is also desirable to place the temperature sensor, though it has a protection against moisture, in a place where precipitation and direct sunlight do not occur. This eliminates the errors in temperature measurement due to evaporation or overheating.
    Do not remove the cover of the device if it is not necessary. Check whether the cover screws are tightly screwed and whether the rubber seal of the cover is on its place. If the device is placed on the street, it must be dismantled in winter to avoid moisture build-up inside the case.
    Do not drop the device or subject it to mechanical loads. Use a tool of the right size and type for fastening elements (screws). Do not apply excessive force to them. Do not touch the electronic components when the device is turned on.

    * Power element CR2032 is designed for long hours of operation to power the internal clock. It is recommended to replace it at least once a year.


    This device is designed for a long-term operation which is not less than 5 years.
    Manufacturer warranty is 2 years from the date of sale.
    The date of manufacture and information on the test can be found on the site by the serial number of the device. The serial number consists of three characters printed inside the case (s/n XXX) and is also present in the name of the BLUETOOTH device when connected to a phone or tablet (AQUARIUS XXX).
    Warranty obligations are carried out during the warranty period under the following conditions:
    1. The devices and components included do not have mechanical damages.
    2. Conditions of operation correspond to the described above.
    In all other cases the user bears personal costs for the repair of this device.
